CODU is currently working with some of its partners to reconstruct the educational facility and t reopen the school. 65% of the children do not attend school due the lack of schools in the area or the inability to pay the mandatory school fees. The average school fees are approximately $90.00 per year. This does not include books, mandatory uniforms or in some cases transportation. There are no (senior secondary schools) high schools in Gbo/Gbaiima. The closest high school is over 15 miles away in Bo Town. This poses the additional challenge of lack of transportation, resulting in almost all high school aged children discontinuing their education. One existing school structure does exist but requires extensive repairs, funding and leadership in order to be utilized.
